What is the difference between Fiberglass and Urethane?
Fiberglass parts are made by combining a fiberglass cloth with resin, and hand laying it onto a (open) female mold. There are two processes for making fiberglass parts, chopper-gun and hand-laid. Wings West only uses hand-laid which is more labor intensive than chopper gun but the quality of the fiberglass is far superior. Fiberglass parts have a gel coat (primer) surface, which can be sanded and painted on. A primer coat is usually required before painting. Fiberglass parts may crack if they are stressed or impacted. Fiberglass body kit parts usually require pre-fitting onto the car before they are painted and installed.
