
FocusSport / Cosworth Performance Cylinder Head
For over 40 years, Cosworth has been the leader in innovative multi-valve cylinder head design. This is the main reason we chose to work with Cosworth when it came time to revise our Zetec Focus cylinder heads. Our previous head work was something we were very pleased with, but we knew that if there was a way to extract more power from our heads, Cosworth would find a way. Modified from factory castings, substantial gains were realized compared to the unmodified stock head. Both the stock head and previous FocusSport head were carefully evaluated and tested to establish the improvements and modifications required to meet the target performance level. The dissecting of cylinder heads and weeks worth of testing and flow bench validation were used to determine the best advanced port design yielding maximum usable power and response. However, there is more to cylinder head design than just maximum flow. While we did pick up significant CFM in our revision is was critical that port velocity be maintained to ensure drivability and that valve train components are matched to guarantee reliable performance. This new design has been fully digitized and the new FocusSport / Cosworth Zetec Focus cylinder heads are now CNC machined on a 5-axis mill producing an accurate and consistent port shape every time. In addition to re-shaping and enlarging the intake and exhaust ports, our new heads feature a re-shaped combustion chamber to unshroud the valves increasing air flow and performance. After machining, each head is ultrasonically cleaned and then hand assembled, ready to install on your engine.
All FocusSport cylinder heads come complete with OEM intake and exhaust valves, valve springs, valve guides, valve stem seals, spring retainers, retaining clips, and cam followers INSTALLED. Camshafts can be shimmed by selecting the "Installation Labor" option. If specified, the head will be delivered complete and ready for installation onto the engine block.

When replacing the factory cylinder head with the new FocusSport unit, we highly recommend using new head studs or head bolts and a new head gasket for the best performance and reliability. At these power levels the original factory injectors are worked very hard, and in some cases, there may be a need to replace injectors.

Since the FocusSport heads are reworked factory units, they are currently offered on an exchange basis only. All cylinder head purchases are charged a $300 core charge, which is refunded once your original factory head is returned to us. Please note that heads must be original and unmodified. Any head received that is damaged, modified, or otherwise unfit for remanufacturing will be returned without refund.
